Hibiscus Wall Flower
Our travels inspire many of our pieces....this one comes from a trip to Hawaii where, unlike our modest houseplants here, the hibiscus can be as large as dinner plates.
We cut and sand the steel frame to a bright silver color, then curve the stem and leaf parts, heating them to a dark blue grey. The Hibiscus flowers are cut and hammered by hand, so no two are ever alike, just like the real thing.
The frame measures approx. 16" x 28" to the outermost points and the flower protrudes approximately 3" away from wall. It hangs from a single mounting bracket welded at the back . Spacers hold the entire frame away from the wall 1 1/4", giving it a sculptural fee.
We make our wall flowers each a little different, yet similar enough that they can hang as a grouping.
